Dermaplaning

WHAT IS DERMAPLANING ?

Getting the smooth skin you crave is easy! You can exfoliate, use amazing masks and sit back and relax and peel it all away to reveal beautiful smooth skin.  These are wonderful products and should be used, but do you have the time to do it weekly and is there something more effective? That is where Dermaplaning comes in to play.  It is a process where a small blade/scalpel is used to remove the dead skin cells and those fuzzy little facial hairs, to create smooth and even skin. By removing these soft hairs, you will also have less oil build up.  It also minimises the appearance of acne scars and reduces the appearance of fine lines.

WHAT DOES THE DERMAPLANING INVOLVE?

A trained therapist will prep your skin by cleansing it to loosen up the dead skin cells. This is followed by the actual procedure, where your therapist will gently shave your skin, specifically the top part of the epidermis, with the scalpel using feather like strokes. This takes about 20 minutes. A moisturiser will be applied once the treatment is complete.

WHAT WILL MY FACE LOOK LIKE AFTER DERMAPLANING?

Like many facials out there, you probably need a little downtime. Maybe a bit too red and raw to face the world? But with Dermaplaning, you can make your appointment during your lunch hour and race back to work with only amazing, smooth skin.  Your skin looks instantly smoother.

HOW DOES DERMAPLANING FEEL, IS IT PAINFUL?

Dermaplaning is a pain free experience. You will just feel the shaving sensation as the therapist scrapes along with the scalpel. What better way to have amazing, smooth skin and there’s no pain?!

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DO DERMAPLANING?

It is recommended to go for Dermaplaning on a monthly basis to maintain your smooth and even skin.  At every treatment your therapist removes about 3 weeks worth of dead skin cells, so returning every month promises a lifetime of healthy skin. It’s always good to prolong your new smooth skin with a daily cleansing and moisturising ritual that’s perfect for your skin.  This daily routine will work so much better after Dermaplaning, because it is able to absorb into the skin so much easier.
