What is a Botox?

Botox is a very popular treatment amongst women (and men!) of all ages.

Using a very small fine needle the liquid is injected into various muscles on the face to reduce their ability to contract and therefore create wrinkles.

It is usually performed by doctors and many salons now have visting specialists to administer botox.

Botox injection sites can be various, usually starting with a forehead and the frown, crow feet around the eyes, under the eyes to prevent squinting, around the lips and even into the chin.

Botox is also used to increase the brow lift by injecting just above the brow which causes the muscle to lift slightly.

Botox cost is charged per unit / milligram used (from R50 to R75 and onwards) and the number of units used depends on your particular need.

Sometimes a group of people can come together for a 'botox party' and get a doctor to administer injections outside of the surgery for more cost-effectiveness.

It can take up to a week to develop the full results of botox injectons. There is no recovery time and the results can last up to 6 months.

Botox can also be injected into armpits to reduce sweating.
