IPL, also known as intense pulsed light, is used to perform various beauty treatments. This laser technology is widely used for both skin rejuvenation and laser hair removal.
The treatment involves a high-powered hand-held flash gun which delivers an intense full spectrum of pulse light with different scattered wave lengths. The pulse light energy is converted to heat energy. This pulse light targets specific structures in the body such has melanin in hair, or oxyhaemoglobin in blood vessels that are heated to destruction and then reabsorbed by the body.
It is also effective in treating unwanted hair and skin pigmentation. IPL lasers can use photothermolysis to remove unwanted hair, or to correct skin hyperpigmentation, rosacea, age spots and the appearance of sun damage.
